Some stories are too important for slides. When a charity needs its mission felt rather than just explained, when a community gathers to remember, when a fundraiser needs the moment that opens hearts and wallets — sand art can carry that weight. It holds difficult stories with dignity and joyful ones with warmth. This work is close to my heart, and I offer it to non-profit causes at a discounted rate.
Across fifteen years I have performed for a wide spectrum of community and charitable occasions. The medium adapts to the emotional register each one needs:
| Occasion | What the performance does |
|---|---|
| Fundraising galas | Becomes the emotional centrepiece that anchors the appeal — the moment before the ask, when the room is most open. |
| Remembrance & commemoration | Carries memory and loss with care and restraint, telling a story of a community without graphic imagery. |
| Cultural & faith festivals | Celebrates shared heritage, drawing traditional symbols, calligraphy and stories live for the whole community. |
| Awareness campaigns | Turns a cause's abstract message into a concrete, shareable visual narrative. |
Not every community story is a happy one. Remembrance events, in particular, ask for a delicate hand. My approach is to tell these stories through place, symbol and transformation rather than through anything graphic or distressing. A bridge that stands, falls, and is rebuilt. A flower that survives a storm. A single line that becomes a dove and then a path home.
I research each commission carefully, work closely with the organising community, and never include anything that has not been seen and approved. The goal is always dignity: a performance that honours memory and leaves a room united rather than shaken.
Recent commissions have included a major Bosnian commemoration piece structured around the Mostar Bridge as a metaphor for loss, survival and belonging — developed hand in hand with the community it was made for.
I have worked with Muslim, Christian, Jewish and secular communities, and across many cultural traditions. Where it is meaningful, I draw traditional calligraphy, geometric patterns and cultural symbols live as part of the performance. I ask the right questions early, and I treat each community's symbols and sensitivities with genuine respect. If something is uncertain, I ask rather than assume.
We talk through your mission, your community, the occasion, and the feeling you want the room to leave with.
I storyboard the performance and share it for the community's approval before anything is finalised.
The piece is choreographed to music and rehearsed to the second.
On the day, the story unfolds for your community — and for fundraisers, sets up the appeal that follows.

Yes, and this is often where it is most powerful. Placed just before the ask, the performance opens the room emotionally. I work with your team on exact timing within the evening.
Always. I tell difficult stories through metaphor and symbol rather than graphic imagery, and I never include anything the community has not approved in advance.
The £300 starting rate applies to registered non-profit, faith and community causes. Tell me about your organisation and I will confirm.
